Event details

While it's certain no band name sounds like Shpongle, it's also likely no band sounds like Shpongle. The UK duo of Simon Posford and Raja Ram samples Eastern ethnic instruments and plays live flute in a "psychedelic downtempo" setting, which is not to say the music isn't fit for the dance floor. The group's label Twisted Records — also home to tour mates Hallucinogen — is a respected DJ culture repository for techno, trance, breaks, house and trip-hop. Shpongle pays its first visit to Lawrence tonight (after canceling a stop scheduled a couple years ago) to grease up the nu-ravers and electronic jam heads with live versions of fan faves like "My Head Feels Like a Frisbee" and "Once Upon the Sea of Blissful Awareness."
