Shearwater's songs combine the mysticism of Appalachian folk music with the somber darkness of Leonard Cohen. Songwriters Will Sheff and Jonathan Meiburg (also both members of Okkervil River) write books on tape for those of us who like our stories sang, not read. Opener Wye Oak is a rockin duo outta Baltimore, and Hospital Ships is Lawrencian Jordan Geiger's project (apart from Minus Story). Check out our our podcast preview of his most recent album.
