North Carolina-based American Aquarium seems to be having no trouble gaining its share of critical acclaim. Frontman BJ Barham is frequently compared to Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams and Paul Westerberg, while the band is described as “a frolicking alt-country” group that “begs for campfires, civil war stories and Jack Daniels.” And as a live act whose approach “is fresh, burning with vitriol, whiskey and the urgency of youth.”
