From the promoter: Jed Marum, award-winning folk musician and storyteller, wrote and performed music for Bloody Dawn, a documentary on the Lawrence Massacre. Mr. Marum will perform his folk songs and share stories about the folk music tradition.
Also, Enjoy a book signing with John Hendrix, artist and author of John Brown: His Fight for Freedom. John will be available to answer questions and will share his inspiration for writing about one of history’s most controversial characters.
Documentary film, Bloody Dawn: The Lawrence Massacre, is a preservation of Kansas history. Lone Chimney producers talk about film-making on the home-front and tell the tale of a dark time in Lawrence’s history.
As an added bonus, the Mayhew family (local descendants of John Brown and talented musicians) will talk about family history/background and share a few songs. They, along with John Hendrix, have just returned from Harper's Ferry VA and an event commemorating the 150th anniversary of the raid.
Come and experience all the music, stories, history, and insights into our home-town history!
