When Donald Gardner puts on a strange silver shoe purchased at the side of a road in Kansas, strange things begin to happen. Flying monkeys and secrets from the past are soon revealed. Was Oz a real place? And does it still exist? This is the premise of "Silver Shoes," a new book by Lawrence native Paul Miles Schneider. Schneider was born in New York City and raised in Lawrence, where he attended Sunset Hill Elementary, West Junior High, and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1981. He earned a theatre/voice and music composition degree from KU, and now lives in Los Angeles, where he has worked as an actor, singer, composer, arranger, writer and graphic designer. Silver Shoes is his first book. "Silver Shoes" is written for an upper elementary/middle school grade level, but adults, especially Oz fans, will enjoy it too. The Raven Book Store will make copies of the book available for purchase.
