David Freda is an award-winning internationally recognized jeweler and enamelist. A trained naturalist, wildlife illustrator, falconer, taxidermist, and orchid enthusiast, Freda brings scienti fic observation and exactitude to his art. He works from the natural source, often molding plants and insects in the field and casting exact replicas in silver or gold. He then applies colored enamels checking each layer of color against the living model. Currently Freda devotes his creative e fforts to designing and producing one-of-a-kind gold and enamel orchids for Ti ffany & Co., New York. In their beauty and uncanny realism Freda's orchids are considered to have surpassed the work of his predecessor, Paulding Farnham, the famous Ti ffany designer who created the fi rst series of orchids in the late 1800's.
