David Freda is an award-winning internationally recognized jeweler and enamelist. A trained naturalist, wildlife illustrator, falconer, taxidermist, and orchid enthusiast, Freda brings scientific observation and exactitude to his art. He works from the natural source, often molding plants and insects in the field and casting exact replicas in silver or gold. He then applies colored enamels checking each layer of color against the living model. Currently Freda devotes his creative efforts to designing and producing one-of-a-kind gold and enamel orchids for Tiffany & Co., New York. In their beauty and uncanny realism Freda's orchids are considered to have surpassed the work of his predecessor, Paulding Farnham, the famous Tiffany designer who created the first series of orchids in the late 1800's.
