The High Strung
As temperamental and wound-up as their name might suggest, The High Strung unload concrete blocks of Kinksy guitar pop laced with the proto-punk spirit of The Buzzcocks and the glam sensibilities of Cheap Trick. The band boasts that its new record "Ode to the Inverse of the Dude" is its "most expansive and experimental album." It's a decidedly different sound, based more on singer/songwriter material with dreamy pop overtones and a whimsical "Sgt. Peppers" sensibility. The group has taken to playing unorthodox venues like libraries and elementary schools while on tour, evidence that they're not content to adhere to the same ol' dog and pony show.
