A handful of Lawrence experts will discuss natural solutions for depression and other illnesses. The “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” event will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in the auditorium at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, 325 Maine. The speakers will be: Stephen Ilardi, associate professor in psychology at Kansas University; Dr. Amber Belt, a Lawrence naturopathic physician; Hilary Brown, owner of Local Burger; Maria Ilardi, advanced registered nurse practitioner at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. Brown will share some food from her downtown restaurant that serves organic, local, and sustainable fare that is free of unnatural additives and preservatives. The free community event is co-sponsored by Safe Harbor, a nonprofit group that assists and promotes nonharmful methods and practitioners for mental wellness, the Women’s Health Discussion Group in Lawrence, and Brown.
