While it's tempting to entertain the thought that Abe Vigoda—the Lew Perkins doppelganger who starred in "The Godfather" and TV's "Barney Miller"—started an indie rock band in his late eighties, the truth is that the Abe Vigoda swinging though Lawrence on its way back from SXSW is four kids from L.A. (Sigh). Now that you're thoroughly bummed, let us rekindle your excitement torch by telling you that the band is actually all kinds of fun with its twitchy, schizophrenic, no-wave punk sound that's all the rage these days.

"Barney Fife" was a character on "The Andy Griffith Show". Abe Vigoda was on the show "Barney Miller". It's tempting to entertain the thought that you could get the story straight before you make the joke.
