This Portland band takes a bit of a kitchen-sink approach to its songwriting. Like Beck in their ability to shapeshift, Blitzen Trapper sounds accomplished whether its members take on a slide guitar, a jaw harp, or sweet vocal harmonies. Their latest album "Furr" runs the gamut from Deadhead haziness to the sort of thesaurus rock that Stephen Malkmus might conjure, from Dylanesque folk songs to Nitty Gritty southern jams. They'll roll though Lawrence for the third time in two years, this time with the gorgeous folk songs of Portland singersongwriter Alela Diane.
