Plan to spend Tuesdays, July 14, 21, & 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dole Institute of Politics in the Simons Media Room with Democratic political operative Steven Jacques and his guests. Here’s who’s coming: July 14: “The Obama Presidential Campaign: From Announcement Day through Inauguration Day” with Sophie McCarthy, Missouri Political Director for the 2008 Obama presidential campaign and principal in Axelrod, Sedler, Kupper Public Strategies, and Corey Dillon, regional director to Sen. Claire McCaskill (Mo.-D). July 21: “The State of the Republican Party” featuring Steve Kraske, political correspondent for the Kansas City Star and radio host of KCUR “Up to Date”, David Kensinger, president of Kensinger and Associates and and 2008 campaign manager for Sen. Pat Roberts (KS-R), and Fred Logan, political analyst for KCTV5 and columnist for the Kansas City Business Journal. July 28: “A View from the White House: A look at the Obama Administration and current events from the view of a White House insider” with Bobby Schmuck, staff assistant for the White House Office of Political Affairs. During the 2008 election, Schmuck served the Obama campaign as Deputy Political Director for the Midwest. About Steven Jacques: Jacques is a nationally-recognized Democratic political operative, having served in both the Clinton and Carter administrations and on national staffs in the past eight presidential campaign cycles. After serving as a Dole Fellow and Interim Associate Director of the Dole Institute, Jacques joined the Obama presidential campaign and served throughout the primaries and general election as Barack Obama's Senior National Lead Advance. He then served as a Deputy Director of Obama's 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee. Jacques continues to lead White House advance teams preparing for Presidential and Vice Presidential trips.
