Sonic Youth's distinctive dissonance and alternate tunings have been married to a poppier overtone with recent albums, while maintaining strong ties to their dissonant roots. After a stellar 25-year career to which many modern-day bands owe their sound, Sonic Youth swings through Kansas City to support their warmly received Matador Records debut "The Eternal." In related news, guitarists Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore recently unveiled their signature model Fender Jazzmaster guitars - suitable for all kinds of abuse.
