The Burning Hotels hail from Fort Worth, where they've won over Texans with their slick brand of melodic rock music. The Killers and The Bravery might reconcile their ongoing feud at a Burning Hotels show, perhaps realizing that they're not all that superior to the rest of the rock and roll universe.
Olathe's The Sailor Sequence is turning heads with a sound that’s a sonic cousin to The Appleseed Cast. The group spends long hours tweaking little details such as glitchy drum programming, found noises, and oodles of effects pedals. It’s all presented with a melodic sensibility along the lines of Death Cab for Cutie, though instrumental acts like Lymbyc Systym and Explosions in the Sky also figure into the picture.
