The Lied Center of Kansas and the Lawrence Journal-World present the Broadway classic, The Pajama Game. This Tony Award-winning revival of the original Broadway show has a high-energy, jazzy and upbeat score including popular hits and musical theatre standards such as Hey There, Steam Heat and Hernando’s Hideaway.Based on the novel 7-1/2 Cents by Richard Bissell, spirited Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory employee/union representative Babe Williams and dashing factory superintendent Sid Sorkin are in the middle of clashing over a labor demand for a 7 1/2 cent raise when they find they have a lot more to negotiate. When love blooms for the two, the classic battle of the sexes plays out on the factory floor. With music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, the original 1955 Broadway production of The Pajama Game won three Tony Awards including Best Musical.
