Event details

Lawrence music aficionados remember Exit 159 as the muscular pop-rock band fronted by Kristie Stremel, who started the group in 1997 after the demise of her alt-rock combo Frogpond. Stremel and mates Rob VanBiber, Byron Huhmann and Jamey Wheeler toured extensively in the Midwest and up and down the West Coast, winning fans with their high-energy shows and hard-drinkin' antics. The group is reuniting (sans Huhmann) for two shows this weekend: Friday at the Record Bar in Kansas City and Saturday at the Replay Lounge. Lawrence-based piano balladeer Charles McVey sets the stage both nights, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and music starting shortly thereafter.
