This film shows the early stages of the violence, from 2004 to early 2005, through the eyes of Brian Steidle, a former US Marine Captain whose assignment as a paramilitary adviser enabled him to gain access to parts of the country that no journalist could penetrate. Unprepared for what he would witness and experience, Steidle returned to the US armed with his photographs, intent on exposing the images and stories of lives systematically destroyed. After the film is shown, a discussion focusing on recent events and options for action will be chaired by Ken Lohrentz of Peace Mennonite Church. Emphasis will be placed on heightening our awareness of continuing events in Darfur and communicating with representatives of the Obama administration to consider options for ending the violence.
