Born Annoying (A Tribute to Helmet)

with 2009 Rocked / Stiff Middle Fingers

Event details

It's become a tradition of sorts for Lawrence's Born Annoying to do a show every year around this time. The five-piece group pays tribute to Helmet — one of the more memorable and influential indie-metal groups of the '90s. Due to the fact that singer Chris Koehler and bassist Seth Chandler reside in other areas of the country, Born Annoying's gut-felt salute to one of the most thanklessly plagiarized bands of all time can only be appreciated sparingly.

Opening the show will be Stiff Middle Fingers, a tribute to classic punk and new wave bands of the '70s and '80s. Between sets, Cameron Hawk of The Dead Girls will play solo renditions of a few of his favorite songs of 2009, including songs by Animal Collective, Phoenix, Of Montreal, and Robyn Hitchcock.
