With a name that combines the whimsy of French cutting-edge artistry and the sober reality of military troop reinforcements, Avant National Guard is among the interesting new projects hailing from Lawrence. Although the act often recruits a variety of players to fill out its live roster, it is primarily a duo. Both members Jon Ulasien (guitar, vocals, laptop) and Alex Pierrelee (drums, synth, bass) are best known for previously serving in the artsy-pop group Aubrey.
