If you went, you might have heard
The members of We Are Country Mice trace their roots back to Kansas and Wisconsin, perhaps the reason they're prone to singing about "the heartland." The group appeared on the Brooklyn scene earlier this year with a ragged, soulful sound that boasts of "contagious nostalgia and raw energy." If there are any traces of goth in Lonnie Fisher's sound, it's more Echo and the Bunnymen and Joy Division than Skinny Puppy. The '80s play a big role, as do classic crooners like Roy Orbison and the Everly Brothers. Much of it is fairly dark in tone, but performed with a toe-tapping ebullience. After a recent spirit-cleansing hiatus, Fisher recently resurfaced with a new ensemble dubbed the Mobile Spirits.
