The Starlight Mints hail from the experimental indie-pop school that pushes the limits of free-association creativity. Hired by The Flaming Lips to open most of the "Yoshimi" tour, the Norman, OK.-based group has honed their blissful chamber pop into a tour-de-force on par with the most adventurous groups on the map. Taking a cue from the Lips, the band's live show frequently includes psychedelic video elements and piped-in sound effects. All of which would mean nothing, of course, if the songs weren't so damn catchy. The band's latest long-player "Change Remains" appeared in June on the Barsuk label.
