Chicago-based artist Terry Evans speaks about her experiences making photographs of Greenland's Jakobshavn Glacier. In conjunction with the International Polar Year (March 2007- March 2009), the Museum commissioned Evans to create a body of work about the research of KU's Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS). CReSIS is studying the thickness of the Jakobshavn Glacier over the Greenland landmass to determine the volume of the ice. Evans' photographs resulted in the exhibition A Greenland Glacier: The Scale of Climate Change, on view through May 24 at the Spencer. Rex Buchanan from the Kansas Geological Survey will also speak. This event is free and open to the public. This project was made possible by the generous support of Douglas County Bank and the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund of the Douglas County Community Foundation.
