From the LCO: Under the direction of Steven McDonald, music director, the final concert of the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra’s 2008-2009 season will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 New Hampshire Street in Lawrence, Kansas. This concert provides the LCO an opportunity to showcase outstanding young talent from Douglas County. JoAnn Doll, a Lawrence High School senior, was named winner of the winds, brass, and percussion division as well as the overall competition winner of the LCO's 2009 Stephen Paul Wunsch Young Artists Competition. She will join the orchestra in performing the Allegro movement of C.P.E. Bach's Concerto in D Minor for Flute and Orchestra. The orchestra will also perform Mozart's Divertimento in F, K.138, and two British works for string orchestra, the nostalgic and popular Capriol Suite of Peter Warlock, and Sir Edward Elgar's moving Elegy, Opus 58. Following the concert, please join us at a reception, to meet the musicians and to honor our young artists.
