Though generally lumped in with the electronica scene, Lymbyc System's appeal extends far beyond bloopy sequencing. Mixing in ample live instrumentation (drums, wurlitzer, etc) and warped sounds a la Boards of Canada, the duo joins the ranks of The Album Leaf and Tortoise as laptop post-rock generators.Italian horror films were a big part of the initial inspiration for the members of Black Christmas to create the haunting soundscapes that have made the band a big local draw. Typically beginning songs with the intricate guitarsmithery of Dalin Horner (which hallmarked the sound of Lawrence greats Santo Gold), the band builds layer upon layer of tension using samples, organs and a highly technical percussion section.
