Jazz-folk crooner Jolie Holland explores her amplified Americana muse on her outstanding new album "The Living and the Dead." A former member of The Be Good Tanyas, Holland pens subtle yet sensual songs that recall Andrew Bird's freewheeling creativity and Lucinda Williams' hardscrabble delivery. Contributors to the new album include guitar maestro Marc Ribot, M. Ward and drummer Rachel Blumberg (also of The Decemberists).
