Event details

After a two-album solo detour, alt-country pop crooner Rhett Miller is back with his old gang the Old 97's for a no-worse-for-the-wear new album titled "Blame It On Gravity." The train-dodging foursome has always been a favorite of the Texas twang camp, but their turn-of-the-century efforts dug in some mighty power-pop claws and British Invasion sounds (most notably 2001's "Satellite Rides"). "Gravity" should satisfy longtime followers wholeheartedly, retaining the group's economic pop sense while mischievously injecting windmilling cowpunk riffs. Opener The Spring Standards are a New York trio specializing in three-part harmonies and melodic folk-rock with vague country undertones.
