Event details

In this anticipated homecoming show, Kansas native Freedy Johnston returns to the town where he briefly resided (and even more briefly schooled) before relocating to New York and realizing his dream of becoming a bill-paying songwriter. His 1994 hit "Bad Reputation" vaulted his idiosyncratic voice and pitch-perfect pop sense onto the FM dial and tours with Soul Asylum, The Lemonheads and Matthew Sweet. Since then he's continued to churn out first-rate albums for his cadre of devoted fans, mining his mellower muse on his 1999 release "Blue Days Black Nights" and plugging back in for 2001's "Right Between the Promises." Lately, Johnston has been residing in Wichita and working up new material with Wayne Gottstine of Split Lip Rayfield -- an exciting premise for fans of both silver-tongued songwriters.
