Army Navy is the vessel for singer/songwriter Justin Kennedy, a former Seattle resident who played in a band with Ben Gibbard before relocating to L.A. and forming Army Navy. The group's classic pop songcraft recalls Teenage Fanclub and The Posies as well as contemporaries like Voxtrot and The New Pornographers. One of the group's songs recently surfaced on the soundtrack to "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" alongside other buzz bands like Marching Band and Bishop Allen. Ex-Elvis Costello stickman Pete Thomas helmed the skins on the group's debut self-titled album-a must-have for any fan of smartly executed jangle-pop.
