Lonnie Fisher is known around town for two talents: music and fried chicken. He serves up the latter on Wednesday nights at Wheatfields, and the former on weekends with his band the Funeral. The four-piece recalls Echo and the Bunnymen, The Church, and The Psychedelic Furs with a noirish sound built on cascading synths and Fisher's boisterous voice. The band's new album "The Story of Ramona" is an elegy for a friend who lived a star-crossed life. While it was often a difficult subject to confront, Fisher and the Funeral surfaced with an emotionally charged record that pulls no punches. They'll celebrate the release of "Ramona" this evening with Phoenix rockers Kinch and local studs The Granting and Aubrey.
