Lawrence Memorial Hospital is hosting the Betsy Beisecker Memorial Tea on Saturday, July 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. to help raise awareness for breast cancer. The 10th annual event will take place in the LMH Atrium, 325 Maine.This is the first year that the event will be free, but tickets will still be required for admission. Stop by the LMH Gift Shop, LMH Oncology Center or the Breast Center at LMH South, 3500 Clinton Place, to get a complementary ticket. Tickets will also be available to the public at Health Care Access, 1920 Moodie Rd, and The ETC Shop, 928 Massachusetts. Lisa Covington, a breast cancer survivor, activist and advocate, is the featured speaker at the event. Covington will be discussing her experiences with breast cancer and singing Melissa Ethridge's "I Run for Life."The Sunflower Oncology Nursing Society's Breast Cancer Awareness committee is organizing the event. This volunteer organization strives to help educate women about breast cancer and the benefits of early detection.Refreshments will be available at the event. Additional activities include door prizes and a hat contest. Everyone is encouraged to wear a favorite hat and participate in the activities for fun and prizes.
