Seattle rock quartet Barcelona is currently touring in support of its first full-length album "Absolutes", which was released last September by Appeal Records in Kansas City. What began as a solo project two years ago has matured into a melodic indie-rock machine that recalls bands like Death Cab for Cutie or The Velvet Teen. This World Fair hails from Minneapolis and plays guitar-driven melodic rock with ornate arrangements and occasional falsetto vocals. The group -- fronted by pianist/guitarist Chris Kalgren -- landed a song on the "Disturbia" soundtrack and is circulating a three-song sampler to spread the good word.Making Movies is a rock trio from Kansas City that performs with both Spanish and English lyrics. Channeling the tight grooves of bands like Ozomatli and The Police into melodic arrangements, the group recently released a bilingual EP on Appeal Records.Hidden Pictures is a new band featuring Richard Gintowt and Michelle Sanders from OK Jones. Initially formed as an acoustic duo, the group has recently expanded to include drums and bass.
