Lieutenant Colonel (Retired Army) Jim & Joyce Berry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2013. They were married in Pittsburg, KS & met when they attended Pittsburg Sr High School. Jim is the son of Ralph “Wild Red” Berry, professional wrestler, & followed in his fathers’ footsteps for a short time prior to his entrance in the United States Army. Jim & Joyce were stationed in many places during his 20-year military
career, including Missouri, France, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, California, & Kansas. Jim also served tours in Korea & Vietnam where he was awarded The Bronze Star. Jim graduated from Pittsburg State & holds masters’ degrees in education & business administration. His military education includes the Command & General Staff College. After his retirement from the Army, he was a Special Agent for the Department of Defense & later the Sr. Military Instructor for the Military Magnet High School in Kansas City. Joyce considers herself a homemaker, care provider for her three grandchildren but was also a seamstress & Creative Memories
Consultant for many years. Jim & Joyce have three children together; Jamie, Diana & Daniel & three grandchildren. The couple maintain homes in Lawrence & Pittsburg KS.
