Our podcast preview of the show with ThaoOur podcast preview with Jordan Geiger of Hospital ShipsThao Nguyen is one of the best performers you'll ever find with just an acoustic guitar and a room-silencing voice, but the addition of a band called the Get Down Stay Down made her 2008 release "We Brave Bee Stings and All" an early album-of-the-year candidate. Nguyen's guitar fingerpicking is rooted in folk music, but her band is irresistibly funky in a loosey goosey way that resembles Edie Brickell or Paul Simon. With support from Kill Rock Stars Records and a recent tour with Rilo Kiley, Thao and her band are finally getting their due. Note: Pepi Ginsberg is no longer on this bill.
