The Watkins Community Museum of History announces a new collection care workshop series entitled Saving Stuff Saturdays. The series kicks off on Saturday September 15 at 10:30 a.m. with Caring for Antique Toys.Museum curator, Kerry Lippincott, will share basic techniques for thecare and storage of metal, wood, cloth and plastic toys. The following Saturday September 22 at 10:30 a.m. is Preserving Family Photos. During the workshop museum archivist Helen M. Krische will show participants how to preserve and conserve photographs and film negatives. If damage has already occurred in an item, she will also demonstrate how to protect it and slow down further deterioration. All workshops will take place at the museum, 1047 Massachusetts St.Members $10, Non-members $15. Participants are also encouraged to bring in items for consultation.
