Toubab Krewe developed their unique sound over the course of numerous trips to West Africa performing with local musicians. Utilizing Malian instruments like kora and ngoni, the Asheville, NC, band plays with subtly shifting African-style patterns and worldbeat rhythms. A performance at this summer's Wakarusa Festival helped introduce the Krewe to dance-happy Lawrencians likely to spread the word in advance of this encore performance.
