Caribou is touring on their recent release on Merge Records "Andorra," a densely layered psychedelic pop album that dwells in the same candyland as Elf Power and Mice Parade. The album is a bit of a departure from Dan Snaith's earlier electronica-informed work (he recorded as "Manitoba" before receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Dictators frontman Handsome Dick Manitoba). Informed by '60s touchstones like Soft Machine and Sgt. Pepper's, the home production is chock-full of flutes, percussion, tape loops and trippy melodies. Caribou's counterpart on this tour is the Toronto-based Born Ruffians, a very energetic trio that released their self-titled EP last year on Warp Records.
