In the band's nearly five years together, Robbers on High Street has been unable to escape frequent comparison to other current ultra-hooky, indie pop bands - the first to get a mention are typically Spoon and the Strokes, followed quickly by the Walkmen and Interpol. Despite the comparisons, the band has jangled and grooved on with its sense of fun intact. The members released "Grand Animals" this past June, a jaunty pop exploration highlighted by an interesting and unexpected collaboration with Italian film composer Daniele Luppi, known for production work with Gnarls Barkley and John Legend. Great Northern brings big, lush guy-and-gal-fronted pop in the vein of fellow Los Angelino acts Rilo Kiley or even Silversun Pickups. Their debut LP, "Trading Twilight for Daylight" is out on Eenie Meenie Records."
