Joseph Israel made the unusual move from his birthplace, Israel, to Tulsa when he was two years old, and he gained a love of reggae from his father, who took the family on regular trips to Jamaica throughout Israel's childhood. During these trips to Jamaica, Israel began studying Rastafarianism, and eventually brought the culture behind the faith to stage via music. Israel's debut album "Gone are the Days" was recorded at Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studios, and features the talents of roots reggae star Luciano as well as Erica Newell and Rochelle Bradshaw, regular backup singers for Ziggy Marley. Jah Roots, hailing from Springfield, MO, bring their own brand of no-coast reggae to the table, having released two albums, "Crucial" and "More Herbs for the Youth."
