Conceived by Twyla Tharp, Movin' Out is the story of a group of friends growing up on Long Island during the 1960s. Drawn from characters from Joel's pop hits, this musical follows the friends through high school, into Vietnam, and through the drama of their post-war lives. Joel's well-known music is performed by a pianist and band suspended on a platform above the stage while the rock ballet unfolds below.
