Few scenes are more loyal than the jam band crowd, and L.A.'s Particle has been reaping the benefits since the members came together in 2000, heating it up at Festivals like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Bumbershoot as well as the shows on their regular (and frequent) tour circuit. The band's only album was released in 2004, two years before the members incorporated vocals into its danceable blend of electronica, funk, rock and jazz. Yet in the time since, the band has found ways to bring music to its self-described "Particle People" via free downloads on their site, a live dvd, and of course, its shows. Out of North Carolina, House of Fools is another fan favorite, though the members lean more towards the indie pop end of the spectrum and favor a more concise and orchestrated songwriting style. The band's debut album, "Live and Learn", has garnered praise for its retro pop leanings and relaxed flair.
