Please include North Lawrence?

North Lawrence is included. There were no reported crimes in that area, according to police, in that area. You can grab and drag to view more of that area, but there aren't dots there.

East Lawrence is looking pretty good too.

That's not true...I reported two things stolen from my house in July and August, I guess since my house wasn't actually broken into it doesn't count as a burglary?

We've been considering something like that. Appreciate the feedback Shaun Hittle LJW

Perhaps we should add more clarity to the map descriptions. These are for aggravated burglaries, defined as when the victim is home during the burglary.

Could you do a color coded one for non-aggravated burglaries?

Interesting that North Lawrence has had little activity. Makes me think of an old saying that, "One does not poop in his own back yard."

Dumb comment. Perhaps what it means is that burglars don't want to come back over the bridge through downtown in (presumably) the wee hours with a carload of loot.

What I means is that they know that if they break into a house in North Lawrence with the owner home, they are more likely to be met with a gun than in a home in West Lawrence.

Didn't LJW try this before? I seem to remember a crime statistics map they would post except the maps really sucked and would not load half the time and sometimes crashed browsers.

We tried something with crime maps before, but there were some holes, so it got abandoned.
With something like this, i.e. a rise in a particular crime, it's a little more manageable.

Looks like the clusters are such that the locations have quick and easy access to routes out of town. Except for the Oread area and those can be explained by hit an easy target - student housing (unlocked doors, lots of traffic in houses, etc.).
