Besides Spidey, Mario (no, not the b-ball player) and Santa were there, too! A fun video!!! Nice donation from Callahan Creek. Bless all of the ringers!

FYI - The first two or three flash mobs were fun to watch. Now it's embarrassing and tired, please stop and be original.

Your comments are embarrassing and tired. Please just go away and stop being grumpy.

Try walking away from your computer and joining a flash mob. You might turn into a human.

I wonder if any of the bell ringers were gay.

do you need to unlock your closet?

Nope. But the Salvation Army might have a few skeletons in theirs on this issue. I'll give 'em credit for trying to evolve their stance, although they might have maybe admitted that's what they were doing. Just last year they finally took down their website statement saying gay people should remain celibate, but they've still got a few spokespeople that might wanna maybe take some sensitivity training before maybe implying that gay people deserve death. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/global/2012/06/salvation-army-official-gays-deserve-death/53885/

It isn't very nice for lgbt people who the salvation army attempts to shame for being who they are, and whose most conservative members call for a death penalty for their ~sins. If they can't keep their religious doctrine separate from the professed goals of helping all humans, then they shouldn't be in the business of charity.

They're not a charity. They're a gigantic evangelical church that does missionary work with the homeless. They cannot keep the goals separate, because the religious goal is intrinsic to their mission. From their website:
*The Salvation Army was founded as an evangelical organization dedicated to bringing people into a meaningful relationship with God through Christ. Its doctrinal basis is that of the Wesleyan-Arminian tradition. It is composed of persons who are united by the love of God and man, and who share the common purpose of bringing others to Jesus Christ. The word salvation indicates the overall purpose of the organization—to motivate all people to embrace the salvation provided to them in Christ.
The word army indicates that the organization is a fighting force, constantly at war with the powers of evil. Battles are effectively waged through an integrated ministry that gives attention to both body and spirit. It is a total ministry for the total person. The Army cooperates with churches of all denominations to meet the needs of the community. Those who have drifted away from God and those estranged from their own religious affiliations are often attracted to The Salvation Army. They are first urged to seek Christ for pardon and deliverance from sin.*

Only when they decide to retake Jerusalem.

That phrase has never been more appropriate :)

What others see as a sweet, "aw, let's help the homeless with this giving charity" I see as "let's all rally around this hugely anti-gay and anti-atheist company". We do NOT support the Salvation Army.
