On New report: Kansas highway system No. 2 in nation

Ginny Hedges 4 years, 11 months ago

Why did I have to click on 2 questions to be able to read this article? Just wondered...

It's because the LJ World Online has sold its users out to Google, and won't let you read the story unless you do the survey. See the story here: http://www2.ljworld.com/about_surveys/

It's very annoying. If you find it so, be sure and call to complain. They have disabled comments on the story about the surveys.

Hope they are not expecting real results. I just punched buttons until it disappeared.

I actually think it is garbage that they disabled the comments on the story they ran about initiating this new aspect of their website. Sort of cowardly if you as me...

To those who are complaining about the new Google ads at least the website is free. Go to the New York Times website or numerous other newspaper websites and you'll get worse. Hell like DoubtingThomas said you don't even have to give real results.

We won't maintain this ranking if Brownback keeps raiding the highway funds to cover his budget deficits.

Larry Sturm 4 years, 11 months ago

Let Brownback run the KDOT and we will be #50 in a couple of years.

Dear LJWorld Ads. I have no idea what a mirror-less camera is, let alone the difference from a SLR. or was it DSLR?

John Sickels 4 years, 11 months ago

Extremely unhappy with the google survey policy. I will be reading the Journal World website much less as a result. Whoever reads this story, please pass that on to your superiors. I am sick and tired of google taking over everything

Then buy an actual paper. All of the content is provided free to us online.

If we have to put up with this, then Douglas county should get Google Fiber damn skippy. And that would be superfine.

Curtis Lange 4 years, 11 months ago

Think I should make a twitter account just for the LJWorld so I can just tweet the story out to...no one and continue reading w/o these stupid surveys. Thought it was bad enough that YouTube makes you watch an ad (or at least 5 seconds) on every video now...

This report is just plain wrong. Anyone who has ever used TX roads knows they are the best in the nation. Their farm to market roads are better than I-70 in KS. Their roads are not subject to the freeze thaw cycles our roads, and North Dakota roads are. They seldom have potholes which are everywhere here. I do not believe this survey, and never will.

Tracy Rogers 4 years, 11 months ago

I'm just glad we can still read this free. Most papers are going to subscriptions for online papers as well.

Nikonman 4 years, 11 months ago

Our roads all over the US could be better if the contractors would do the work right in the first place. When i was in northern Germany, the first thing I noticed was how good the roads and highways were. You seldom ever see a pothole. This is in an area that is about 53 degrees north compared to about 38 degrees north here locally. I think the road builders do just enough to get by, knowing they will get another contract to fix or replace their work in a few years at public expense.

Governor brownbackward and secretary kingaroo will drive KDOT into the ground along with the rest of state government. May be ranked second now, but will be number two soon the way things are headed...

You could buy a paper but the news is usually at least 2 days old.

A report by a partisan political group to justify the Govs raids. Please go to American Society of Civil Enginneers website to view the real story. Kansas is going downhill and will continue the slide as long as infrastructure is not funded.
