well i be.... what is so hard about obeying the law? well i hope he gets the time that he rightly deserves. I've been knowing this guy a long time and he still ain't got the memo; shame-shame-shame!!
Granddaddy, as G.B and Australia how this happened to them, can't hurt you, huh, just first step to something else from the loons in charge of out use to be great country
we do have too many guns. i don't have an answer. i thinking about buying another one pretty soon.
Hey gun control libs, he got this gun outside of the law.
No charge for the illegal drugs, or driving with a suspended license?
I'm just glad he didn't shoot someone's eye out.
Treat guns like abortions. Do not like them? then don't have one. Stop trying to deny others their right to abortions or guns. After all abortions are only for killing another person just like guns right?
16.8 million gun backround checks done in 2012 assumes that most resulted in a gun sales rate of a guess of a real 14 million weapons .
If only one percent of those guns get stolen over the next ten years, that would be an additional 140,000 guns added to street criminals access, from that one years sales, alone .
You got to be crazy not to see that ten years of gun sales would significantly add to that number, not to mention all of the guns sold in this country before this last year ever started .
Welcome to Ameri-gun !
The law should be that this guy is held with no bail on these charges, as he is a felon with a loaded gun, drugs, a previous battery conviction and no license to drive........ or respect for the laws in general..... or for his own situation .
A disaster interrupted in the making !
Thank You LPD Police .
I believe that people should have rights to a trial and be innocent until convicted and be treated mercifully but this is just unacceptable, in your face stuff, from someone who is not playing with a full deck, who needs to be in custody for everyone's good.
He could have shot and killed someone one on the street in a drug deal or the officers that caught him as they approached to apprehend him and be facing worse charges than he is .
As for the rest of you,.....buy a gun so somebody can steal it.......don't lock your doors and secure your windows at night so burgalars or junkies can break in and shoot you with your own gun, or steal it as you sleep...........don't put a lock on your triggers so some kid can find your gun an perform a lethal experiment......so your lawyer can whine about how tragic an accident it all was.......... & God Forbid that you lock your car doors,.... because the rest of us who pay for insurance, can help replace your cars, at our expense, if they get stolen thru your negligent aid to criminals and junkies.......after all,.....this is "Mercia" and you have rights to indebted the rest of us ......and force our car and home insurance rates to be much higher than need be, so you can act like you are high on something..... & set the welcome mat out for criminals or disasters with kids and guns !
We need news paper drama to read about and you make coming up with content easier for them !
It's another thing entirely if someone breaks a door or window and enters or defeats your car door lock and or alarm, somehow .
If you did what you could do to reasonably deter a crime, be my guess to feel like a victim and I'll be glad to bear the insurance risk and costs with you !
Registered owner reports gun stolen, felon headed to prison... Where is the problem?
yet another law?
silly. good to see this one being enforced.
note that the obama administration has a very poor federal record on gun prosecutions compared to other administrations.
all this 'fast and furious' administration wants to do is limit gun posession by the law abiding. it is obvious.
Michael James Edwards was arrested during a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Kentucky Street about 12:30 a.m. Sunday by a Lawrence police officer who knew
him to have a suspended license, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman. After seeing suspected marijuana in the vehicle and
performing a search, the officer reportedly found more bags of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a loaded gun and $1,500 in cash.
---great job officer!
Snake, your theory does not hold up when you replace guns with current drug laws. You also fail to understand that millions of guns are already in circulation.
Tougher gun laws would reduce this sort of thing. You can't flood the country with guns and then argue that people need to be armed to protect themselves from criminals with guns - "we need more guns because there are too many guns" is simply illogical.
Gun-nuts note that Chicago's tough gun laws haven't stopped gun violence there, but the problem isn't with Chicago its with the sea of uncontrolled guns that surround it. Tough gun laws in Europe and Japan have clearly worked. Reduce the number of people with guns and there will be fewer criminals with guns - who would criminals steal their guns from if there are fewer irresponsible "law-abiding" gun-nuts?
lock him up and throw away the key
...make another law, doing that would stop these guys?
Dang-it! If this doesn't demonstrate the need for more gun laws, I dunno what does. I mean really...... if that ksmanimal guy weren't allowed to have 15-round magazines, this never would've happened.
But -did this gun stay in Kansas the entire time and did the guy who possessed it ?? Then will the AG file charges on someone for enforcing Federal Gun laws ??? I don't think that new law made any mention about legal ownership. (It may have I am not sure.) This could be the first 'test' case of the new law !!!
Taking legal, law abiding gun owner's rights away will not prevent any of the scenarios you discuss from happening-
Convicted felons are not allowed to possess firearms. Already. People are not allowed to steal guns- If they are "allowed" , they would not be stealing. Someone would be loaning or giving them a gun.
The already existing laws will not be stronger, even if written in all caps.
Edit- when responded to the 1st comment- the sarcasm nanny part wasn't there- (was it being edited/ added as I typed?) so never mind. move along. nothing to see here.
Prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. I am pro-gun and I am pro-sending their butts to jail when they violate gun laws.
