On Letter: Election defense

The Venezuelan electoral system is a remarkably accurate and accountable system, mostly developed by a Florida company, Smartmatic. It does generate a paper copy which can be used to check the electronic tally. In the last several elections, international inspectors from virtually every credible oversight agency, including the Carter center's, mentioned above, have examined the system and give it far better marks than any State in the USA has so far earned.

Oppenheimer has parroted every single criticism and insult that has been leveled at the Venezuelan government for the last 15 years. He's a Miami naysayer who has criticized every democratic move in Honduras, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc., etc. He opines, he does not investigate nor report.

Computerized voting is a crap shoot.... sort of. Computers can be programmed to vote wrong all day long.

And owners of these electronic voting devices in the USA contribute heavily to right wing politics.

I say America vote out computerized voting for the hackers enjoy controlling our votes wayyyy more than we know. Not only that computers don't always work ..... just sometimes go down for no apparent reason.

Protecting Democracy with electronic voting = risky business.
