Welcome to the real world!! An eye for an eye.
And the whole world is blind.
As a retired peace officer I do not support the death penalty. The reason is that far too many "criminals" in prison are found to be innocent by DNA testing and other investigations. I was in favor of the death penalty when the bill was first signed into law. When it became known there was more of a chance that innocent people would be killed, due to many being released by DNA testing, I changed my mind. It costs less to keep a person in prison for life than it does to put them to death, due to the endless appeals and safeguards built in to the law. If there is only one chance that an innocent person would be killed, it is not worth it to me.
