I was writing in SUPPORT of this activity and agency and to DEFEND people who are struggling with the effects of suicide and in response to an egregiously offensive previous comment by another person and I get removed??????What's up with that? Talk about blame the victim.

Bad form, LJW, in having the two comments removed. The first, while insensitive in the extreme, and deserving of hedshrinker's rebuke, was an expression of opinion and in no way violated the terms of this forum. Now had the first comment been directed at a specific incident of suicide, perhaps protecting the feeling of those friends and family might warrant such removal. But a comment, even an insensitive one, to the general nature of suicide, should have been allowed to stand. And hedshrinker's response was well thought out and instructive. It too should have been allowed to stand in sharp contrast to the insensitivity expressed by the first comment.
Though your comment was removed, hedshrinker, I thank you anyway for having posted it.

One of the things that frustrates me the most is it's done so randomly. In this case, hedshrinker's comment was removed as was the comment above. Yet the comment above it was removed with no indication that it ever existed. It makes it look like hedshrinker made an inappropriate comment which was removed. That's just not what happened.

Thank you jhawkinsf for yr support; helping people as an educator and therapist has been my calling for decades; I feel so privileged for the opportunities people have afforded me to witness their pain, confusion, rage and sometimes the grace of healing. I am passionate about this topic particularly as my personal life has been so deeply affected by this desperate act over the last few years as well and I do speak out when I see not just misunderstanding but outright mean-spiritedness. I was very confused by the seemingly arbitrary nature of the LJW monitor's actions in completely removing not only the remarks I was responding to, but their screen name and very existence, while my screen name was left up along with my public censoring.
