Every American, including the President, the Vice President, the members of the Senate, and the members of the House of Representatives, all need to remember that in the Middle East, the name of the United States of America is:
The Great Satan.
Once a name has been assigned, it is very difficult to change.
It therefore follows that whatever The Great Satan does is wrong. There will be no exceptions.

Ron, have you been to Syria or other parts of the Middle East? If you haven't then you haven't a clue on what the Syrians or others in the Middle East feel about the USA. It is only Iran that says the US is the Great Satan.
Why would thousands of Lebanese, Syrians, Jordanians, Egyptians, Saudis, Kuwaitis, etc., be scrambling all the time to immigrate to the US if they thought they were getting into Satan's hands?
I know these people, lived here in the US among them all my life and I will tell you directly that is not true.
What is true is that American supports a state that has continually stopped any progress in the Middle East if it seems to threaten its existence. Can you name it in 10 tries or less? Stay tuned.

"America supports a state that continually stopped any progress in the Middle East if it seems to threaten it's existence".
You seem to be suggesting that states should support policies that will ultimately lead to it's own destruction. Isn't what you just described suicide? Can you name any states that do in fact support policies that will lead to their own destruction? Are you critical of states that don't commit suicide, or are you critical of only one state that doesn't commit suicide?

No, that isn't what I meant at all, is it? I mean that there has to be a two state solution to the problems in the Middle East and Americans and Israels only react to any threat against Israel. Case in point:
What would happen if Iran developed a nuclear bomb? Do you really think its first objective is to bomb Israel? Now, what would happen if they did? Do you not think that Iran knows that?
But even with that said, Israel is ready to destroy a country, kill its people, blow up their infrastructure and wants the US to join them in this destruction because they THINK Iran could possibly do that to them. Iran cannot do it, doesn't want to do it, yet they want to stop Iran's progress at building nuclear energy for their own purposes. What else could they do with it? Here Israel is worried about their own existence and doesn't give a damn about Iran or the collateral damage they will incur by bombing and country that has never hurt them. That, kind sir, is my reply.

"What would happen if Iran developed a nuclear bomb"? You ask that question as if the answer is obvious. It's not. I agree with you that an unlikely scenario would have Iran simply launching a nuclear attack against Israel. Just as Israel's vast nuclear arsenal hasn't been used against it's foes, even in times of war.
However, while Iran and Israel haven't traded shots directly, each uses surrogates to do their bidding. No, I would not think that a direct attack would be imminent. But I do think things like a dirty bomb might find there way into the hands of Hezbollah or Hamas, two of Iran's surrogates. Even the threat of using dirty bombs might embolden those two groups to launch even more missiles into Israel.
Of course, just as Iraq launched missiles into Israel during the first Gulf War, despite Israel not being a part of the fight, so too might some embattled leader, someone like Assad, another with close ties to Iran.
The point is this, Israel has a huge advantage when it comes to nuclear weapons. The Arab and Muslim countries in the region have other huge advantages. The introduction of nuclear weapons by Iran upsets the balance that exists.
Your first comment spoke to a country's existence. Whether or not you agree with it, the truth is that Israel can fight and win many, many wars, and Arabs and Muslims will never simply cease to exist. Should Israel lose just one war, they will indeed cease to exist. Given that, it's not surprising the two sides have different motivations.

So, what do you suggest Obama do?

this is not a situation we want to get in to. one clusterf**k in Iraq was enough. support Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar with money and equipment in their efforts, but stay the hell out of there.
