On How often do you donate blood?

bearded_gnome 1 year, 3 months ago

now, I do not, because I cannot.

when I was much younger I donated a couple gallons, as I have a rare blood type, AB+

my blood would be unhealthy for recipients because of meds I am on.

I have donated several gallons of blood. Two donations of red cells and a couple of gallons of plasma. O+ anti CMV -

Don't get me started on how much my taxes have squeezed out of turnips!

Barrel of corn for a barrel of oil. Pint of blood for a pint of gold.

Every time I pay taxes or utilities.

Used to give blood regularly once I turned 18. A really bad experience during a blood drive in the KU ballroom ended that.

Best I can remember, prior to sometime in the 70's when you gave blood, this blood was sorta placed into an account so if you or someone in your family needed it, it would be there either free or at a reduced rate. They changed it to where you give the blood and if you are a loved one needed it, they did not care they charged you for it just as they would anyone else. Thus, I give when I can, but don't make a special trip to do it.

I always did it every 8 weeks when there was a Community Blood Center in town. Now that it's closed, I can't drive to Topeka to do it. Sometimes there are blood drives in town that I'm able to go donate about once a year. Bring back the Lawrence CBC

Once. After waiting for 2 hours past my scheduled appointment I haven't been inspired to give again.

Always wanted to, just can't seem to weigh enough to donate (true downside for being short/petite).
