More kids than live in our neighborhood

Then there are the adults with a baby in a stroller, too young to crawl much less walk, seeking treats. Sure lady, I know who's going to be eating that candy and it won't be the six month old.

I love talking to the little kids who come to my door! They are so excited and are having so much fun. Just a simple 'who are you dressed like?' elicits the very funniest of responses! Everyone, please remember to use extra caution this afternoon/evening - watch for the little ones!!!

I stopped handing out candy about five years ago after several years of decreasing numbers of kids (down from 60-80 to about 20). The neighborhood is full of kids but I guess they all go downtown now. My bestfriend brought her kids from England this week and wanted to trick or treat in my neighborhood and we're going downtown instead because I don't know if anyone even hands out candy anymore here. I've only seen a couple pumpkins on porches in my neighborhood. It's kind of sad--I loved decorating the yard and handing out candy--but I guess good for downtown business.

BTW, Hy-vee on 6th is encouraging in-store trick or treaters. According to the sign in store, departments throughout the store will have goodies. Thought this was nifty, but my 17 year old just said, "Uh-huh," and looked at me like who-are-you. Still, fun and safe for little ones.

H-Lecter would post something about a trap door on the front porch and he (actually she)wouldn't miss a single one!

As of 9:40PM the count (as usual) is zero. Surprised (as usual) Mrs Roe put me in charge of making sure we had enough treats. Enough . . . . for months to come . . .

Well, actually, I did the same thing, Roe. Bought a bag each of the mini Milkyways and Snickers. Just in case any treaters show up late in the next few days. See.

Not a one here in Budweiser Heights! I'm sure they all went downtown too.

None! There are no American kids in my building.
