So when someone is lying about your position you should just sit their and take it? Hardly.

You're welcome, America.

A very late night for the Onion staff....

The best moment was Joe catching the duplicitous lying Ryan slamming the stimulus program in the debate despite his prior pimping for stimulus funds on behalf of his wealthy constituents.
I loved the way Joe smiled while losing his shoes up that weasel's rear end.
The President should pay heed and come out swinging in the next debate. It could be a game changer. If he doesn't, Romney could very well capture the White House.

The odds are still 3 to 1 against R/R, and town hall format isn't an easy place to "come out swinging," so I'd say whatever aggression we see from Obama in the next round is still going to be comparatively subtle and calculated. So long as polls stabilize, his back isn't against the wall quite yet.

Hope you are right.

My FAV was when Ryan told Biden he should know about putting his foot in it............

...a line which couldn't have sounded more rehearsed and stagey if delivered in a junior high play.
Meanwhile, Biden's rejoinder of "But I always mean what I say" was a perfect. He makes gaffes in word choice, but not in sentiment. Americans know that Romney and Ryan can't run from their disdain for the lower classes; it's an undeniable undercurrent in both their words and policy proposals. Their limp rebuttal that they embrace 100% of Americans is the phoniest platitude of the election, even worse than the "you didn't build that" meme.

Eddie Munster got his milkshake eaten. There were two adults on that stage and Ryan wasn't one of them.

Republicans are pathetic. YOu should be ashamed for using your grandfather's terrible illness as a punchline for a political joke.
My father had dementia. I took off from my career to take care of him. You, on the other hand, make jokes about your family member with dementia. So much for republican family values.
TheSychophant 8 months, 1 week ago
I guess you are unable to respond to the substance of an argument, so you resort to "ad hominum" attacks. Another favorite republican ploy.

Americans enjoy the behavior you described! We like pushy, we like rude, we like BS, we like emotional appeals, we like loud talking, and we like phony scripted lines. The politicians are just giving us what we want. We as the American public need to have more educated public discourse before Washington does. I wonder how many Americans know who their congressional representative is?

Why are these question and answer sessions being called a debate? Mr. Simons, now here is a topic to tackle in your Saturday column.
The media is a dumb as the two answering questions. There has been no debate!
And the moderators have no guts. Time limit up! Stop talking. Cut off the TV cameras. Then the candidates will shape up.

Props for Joe Biden giving a shout-out to Sarah Palin! About time someone in either party mentioned her.
It was a good debate. VP Biden was convincing in his statements and I'm glad he didn't allow Ryan to sit their and make false statements, but Ryan certainly showed why he is on the Romney ticket. I believe both stated their cases rather well. Nod goes to Biden, but it wasn't a slam-dunk win like Romney's over Obama.
Enjoyable debate. Lets hope the next two presidential debates are near as solid.

"This administration has no concept what reality is," as opposed to the candidate who said that 47% were dependent on the government and he wasn't going to worry about them during this election

Personnally, I got sick and tired of watching vp biden set there and laugh and grin acting like a high school kid that was trying to make fun of Ryan. Very immature on bidens part. And the "dumb founded looks" that Biden would get on his face, was so see through, because you could tell Biden knew exactly what Ryan was saying to be true. biden needs to go to Hollywood. I was not impressed with biden at all. And there were some things I was not bimpressed with Ryan either.

Personally, I got sick and tired of hearing Ryan lie.

Both men accomplished what needed to be done. Biden is a 40-year veteran of D.C. politics - he's seen many like Ryan come and go. The debate odds were in Biden's favor and he proved them right. Biden out-debated Ryan, at least on technique alone. The GOP has no reason to find fault with Ryan's performance - he sparred well and hit his points. But Ryan was flat in tone and obviously rehearsed, and Biden spoke from experience and from his heart. Sentiment wins votes. The fact-checkers are now determining their truths.
The winner of this debate was the American people. We saw true discourse last night, thanks in great part to the moderator. Americans need to re-learn discourse, how to talk through problems, how to see this country as a co-operative venture, not a case of "my team versus your team." We have become a lazy citizenry and we need to snap out of it. Think of the children.

ryan was the best dummy the gop has walked out in a while. at least he knew one couldn't see Russia from their Alaskan backyard. He'd also read a book which is more than I can say for Sarah Palin even if the book is atlas shrugged. oh the pitty of the rich hoarders loosing the stuff gained from exploitation to the people they seek to economically suppress.

I didn't watch it. I'm not voting D or R for president anyway, so nothing either one had to say would affect my vote. I hear it was a vigorous debate, so in that respect I'd say America won.
